Every March, people all over the world show their support for everyone affected by endometriosis.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis affects 1.5 (1 in 10) million women and those assigned female at birth in the UK, similar to the number affected by diabetes or asthma.

Endometriosis happens when cells similar to those in the lining of your womb, appear in other parts of the body, such as the ovaries or fallopian tubes. When periods happen, these cells can build up and break away. This causes painful inflammation in surrounding tissues.

What are the impacts of endometriosis?

It can have a devastating impact on a woman’s education, personal and professional relationships, mental health, and quality of life. Heavy periods, extreme fatigue, pain in the lower tummy, pelvis, thighs or back are just some of the symptoms that can be experienced.  Some women also have difficulty getting pregnant.

Creating Awareness amongst the Young

We work with Coppafeel Charity to help raise awareness of breast cancer in the UK.

They are the first breast cancer charity in the UK to solely create awareness amongst young people, with the aim of instilling the knowledge and tools they need to get to know their bodies.  They want everyone to have the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer and they want breast cancer to be diagnosed at the earliest stage possible where survival rates are at their highest.

We at Next, fully support this mission, we want to work closely with this charity and to work on educating young people and teaching them and encouraging them to check their boobs and pecs regularly from a young age.  We therefore add into all of our bras a care label to remind women to self check on a regular basis. We've also designed a capsule range of bras suitable for woman that have gone through surgery and need to wear mastectomy bras.  We worked incredibly closely with the charity and with real women who have gone through their own breast cancer journey.
