Walk or Run for Mental Health
Take a Walk
A good walk can do wonders for your mental wellbeing.
It improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and it reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue. Physically active people have up to a 30% reduced risk of becoming depressed and staying active helps htos who are depressed recover.

Do a Parkrun
Parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world.
Saturday morning events are 5K and take place in parks and open spaces. On Sunday mornings, there are 2K junior Parkruns for children aged four to fourteen.
Parkrun is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you walk, jog, run volunteer or spectate.

Couch to 5K
Couch to 5K is a running plan for absolute beginners. It was developed by a new runner, Josh Clark, who wanted to help his 50 something mum get off the couch and start running, too.
The plan involves 3 runs a week, with a day of rest in between, and a different schedule for each of the 9 weeks.
