FAQs

Why is NEXT supporting and working with the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust - FTCT?

We realise as a business that the current economic climate is very tough for families regardless of where they work. We wanted to support our colleagues as much as we can and let you know about the support FTCT might be able to give to you and your children.

What does FTCT stand for?

The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust is a UK wide charity that gives financial grants to families who work in the fashion and textile industry, including NEXT. FTCT grants help to pay for essential items for children (0-18 yrs).  The charity has been going for over 150 years and every year it helps lots of families right across the UK fashion and textile industry.

I’ve never applied to a charity before and would feel a bit apprehensive about doing this.

FTCT hears from lots of parents who feel exactly the same as you, so try not to worry – you will be in good hands. Hundreds of NEXT families have already received grants from the FTCT over the past 10 years, so if you need a little financial support, you’re not alone. We would really encourage you to get in touch with their friendly team. If they can't help you, they will help to signpost you to an organisation that can.

I am currently receiving Benefits – can I still apply?

Receiving a grant from FTCT will not affect your Benefits and you can still apply. As part of the application process all parents will need to show that they receive Child Benefit. The majority of parents also receive additional Benefits such as Universal Credit and Working Tax Credit.

What is the process for applying?

Applying for an FTCT grant is a two step process.

1. First, parents/carers complete an online enquiry form using website ftct.org.uk or scan the QR code provided which will take you directly to the website

If I apply for a grant but I am not accepted – can NEXT help to overturn the decision?

Unfortunately – as a business we are pointing you in the direction of the charity-  the decision of the FTCT is final. 90% of families who apply to FTCT get help with a grant. If they can't help you, they will help to signpost you to an organisation that can.
